Lessons learned from implementation of internet CBT in Sweden, UK and Australia

In a recent publication from our Swedish group together with colleagues from the UK and Australia, we summarize what we have learned from implementing internet-delivered cognitive behavior therapy (ICBT) at three sites in Gothenburg, London and Brisbane. In this study we tested the implementation of BIP OCD, a therapist-guided ICBT intervention for children and adolescents with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). BIP OCD was developed by our team at Karolinska Institutet and CAP Research Center, SLSO.

In short, what we have learned was that most patients completed the treatment and had clinically meaningful effects from it. Regarding implementation, the three major factors were

1. Healthcare system characteristics
2. Identification of suitable patients
3. Therapist training and supervision
